Alicia started her career as a 4th grade teacher as a Teach For America corps member in south-central Los Angeles. She later joined TFA staff as a national recruiter, selector, and most recently the founding executive director of the Kansas City regional office. In that role she managed the regional team of 20, overseeing the development of more than 200 teachers and 150 alumni annually. While in that role and completing her Executive MBA in the Olin School of Business and Washington University in St. Louis, she had the idea that led to the launch of myEDmatch.

myEDmatch is a job-matching site that connects teachers and schools with shared educational beliefs and goals. It is like online dating for teaching jobs aimed at solving a seven billion dollar a year problem, teacher turnover. Having launched in October of 2012, myEDmatch has raised $2.89M in angel and Series A investment. In 2015 St. Louis Business Journal named myEDmatch the Most Innovative Company in Education.

Alicia remains a passionate educator and spends a lot of her free time supporting various education efforts. She is currently the vice-chair of the KIPP Endeavor School Board, was appointed and Chairs the first Missouri Public Charter School Commission, and has been named the Senior Education Innovation Fellow at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

She earned her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis where she played basketball, holds a master’s degree in elementary education from Loyola Marymount University, and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis’ Olin Business School. Alicia won top education technology pitch in the SXSW Venture 2 Venture competition, was a 2014 Pipeline Fellow and was named Pipeline’s Innovator of the Year and Pitch of the Year.
